Callum Turner is being tipped as the next James Bond, after reports that he took part in a screen test at Bray Studios last week. Nothing has been confirmed, and Amazon MGM has not made any announcement.
Not officially. NME reports that film insiders are “increasingly convinced” Turner will get the role. He reportedly arrived at Bray Studios for a screen test on Friday 30 October, and three to five actors are understood to have been tested that weekend.
The Sun reported that Turner has stepped down as a director of Twentytwo Films, the production company he set up last year with his wife, Dua Lipa. A source told the paper: “Callum is making all the right moves to become the next James Bond.”

Turner is known for Masters of the Air, Fantastic Beasts and The Capture.
Other names linked to the role include Slow Horses star Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor. Reports differ on how many actors are on the final shortlist. Gary Oldman has backed his Slow Horses co-star Lowden, while Taron Egerton has ruled himself out.
Producer Amy Pascal has said the new 007 will be cast by the end of 2026. She said: “We are being really, really methodical. I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow.”
The film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. It is the first Bond film since Amazon took creative control of the franchise in February 2025. Reports suggest a 2028 release, but no date has been confirmed. Daniel Craig’s last Bond film was No Time To Die in 2021.
