Editorial Policy

Background

This policy sets out the standards the Energy Radio newsroom follows for everything published at energyradio.uk.

Accuracy and sourcing

  • We report facts we can attribute. Every article ends with a Sources line naming the organisations, official statements or publications the story is based on.
  • We link to original sources, such as official statements, police and government releases, club and broadcaster announcements, wherever possible.
  • We distinguish clearly between what is confirmed, what is claimed by one side, and what is expected.
  • Dates, figures and names are checked before publication.

Independence and fairness

  • Energy Radio is editorially independent. Advertisers and sponsors have no say over news coverage.
  • Sponsored or paid content is always labelled as such.
  • People and organisations who are criticised in a story are given the opportunity to respond, and we report their response where available.
  • We report on serious events, including crime, conflict and protests, in a sober tone, without sensationalism.

Images

  • We only use images we have the right to publish: our own, official handouts, or openly licensed images (for example from Wikimedia Commons) with the author and licence credited.
  • Where a story uses social media posts from official accounts, we embed the original post rather than copying it.

Privacy

We do not publish private personal information without a clear public interest, and we take particular care when reporting on children and victims of crime.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and openly. See our Corrections page for how to report an error.
