It is a big weekend in London, with Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph, Diwali celebrations and the last Bonfire Night fireworks displays. But if you are travelling, check before you go: parts of the Overground, the Elizabeth line and the Northern line are closed for engineering works.

Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph

The National Service of Remembrance takes place on Whitehall on Sunday 8 November. Whitehall opens to the public at 8am and you do not need a ticket. The two-minute silence begins at 11am, followed by the Royal British Legion march past. Arrive early, leave big bags at home and allow time for security checks.

Diwali and the last fireworks

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, falls on Sunday 8 November, and there are celebrations across the capital this weekend. Many Bonfire Night fireworks displays are also still running on Friday and Saturday, so there is still time to catch one.

Overground, Suffragette line: no trains between South Tottenham and Barking Riverside, all weekend
