When do the deals start?

In the UK, Black Friday has become more of a season than a single day. Many retailers run early offers through November, and online deals often continue through the weekend into Cyber Monday. Retailers usually announce their own dates in the weeks before.

How to tell if a deal is real

  • Check price history with a price-tracking site before you buy. Some ‘deals’ are the same price or cheaper at other times of year.
  • Compare the same model number across shops.
  • Know the return policy and delivery dates, especially for Christmas presents.
  • Watch out for scam sites and links in texts and emails. Type the shop’s address yourself.

Consumer group Which? has previously found that many Black Friday prices were matched or beaten at other points in the year, so it pays to check.
