Strictly Come Dancing is turning up the fright factor this Halloween, and not just with the costumes. For the first time in the show’s history, this weekend’s results will feature a triple dance-off. The three lowest-placed couples will all dance again, and the judges will send one of them home.

Key points
  • Halloween week: Saturday 31 October on BBC One and iPlayer
  • First-ever triple dance-off: three couples dance again, one goes home
  • Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita lead the series with 37 points
  • 11 couples remain

How a triple dance-off works

Usually the two couples with the lowest combined judges’ and viewers’ scores face off, and the judges save one. This week the bottom three will be in danger. That makes every vote count, and it means a fan favourite with a bad night could easily slip into the danger zone.

Last week: Anton’s casting vote

Former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips and his partner Alexis Warr were the latest couple to leave. They scored 17 points and met Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu in the dance-off. The judges were split: Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse saved Jaime, Shirley Ballas backed Shaun, and head judge Anton Du Beke had the casting vote. He chose to save Jaime and Carlos.

37 points: Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita set the highest score of the series so far.
