The Faithfuls have won The Celebrity Traitors. Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft outlasted every Traitor in Friday night’s final on BBC One and will share the £83,000 prize pot, which goes to their chosen charities, Choose Love and the Refugee Council.
The final began with one more murder: Michael Sheen was taken out before the last roundtables. Leigh-Anne Pinnock was the first finalist banished from the castle.
The next vote was split between King Kenny and James Blunt and ended in a deadlock. Sebastian and Romesh talked it through and banished Kenny, the last Traitor standing. Maya Jama, the only original Traitor left in the game, had already been banished at the final roundtable without ever revealing herself.
That left three Faithfuls. In the final vote James Blunt voted for another Faithful, which handed Sebastian the deciding vote and sent Blunt home. Romesh and Sebastian, who had trusted each other for weeks, ended the game together.
James Acaster, the third Traitor, confessed at a roundtable and was banished in the penultimate episode. Many viewers think the turning point came earlier, when Maya and James murdered Sharon Rooney, which only made the Faithfuls more suspicious. Maya’s slip of the tongue, raising a glass “to killing them” before quickly correcting herself, did not help either.
The second celebrity series has been a huge hit for the BBC. The semi-final drew a series-high peak audience of 10.7 million. Last year’s first celebrity series was won by Alan Carr, who played as a Traitor.
Not everyone was happy with the result, though. Plenty of fans said Maya Jama deserved the win for her performance as a Traitor.
