Beckhams in crisis as Brooklyn blocks parents and sends legal warning

Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly taken the extraordinary step of instructing his parents, Sir David and Victoria Beckham, to communicate with him only through legal representatives, according to reports that emerged overnight. The 26 year old is said to have sent a formal desist letter to his family towards the end of last summer, marking a serious escalation in an already strained relationship.

According to sources quoted by The Sun, Brooklyn wanted any attempts at reconciliation to take place privately rather than through public gestures or social media. The letter also reportedly requested that his parents stop tagging him or referring to him on social platforms, with Brooklyn feeling overwhelmed by what he saw as persistent public posts involving him.

Despite this request, Brooklyn allegedly believed the boundaries set out in the legal notice were not respected. As a result, he went on to block both David and Victoria Beckham on Instagram. The family rift was publicly confirmed last month by Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz, 20, who wrote online that both he and their parents had discovered they were blocked.

Friends of Brooklyn suggest tensions within the family began even earlier. They claim that his brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz initially blocked Brooklyn on Instagram themselves before later reversing that decision. However, the damage appears to have been done, with Brooklyn reportedly not speaking to his parents for the past 13 months.

The estrangement deepened ahead of Sir David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations last May. Sources say one specific incident may have triggered Brooklyn’s final decision to block his parents. Victoria Beckham reportedly liked a video Brooklyn had posted featuring a roast chicken recipe, which he allegedly interpreted as a breach of his request for private, lawyer mediated contact only. Within 48 hours of that interaction, Brooklyn is said to have cut off his immediate family on social media.

Brooklyn’s wife, actress Nicola Peltz, 31, has also blocked David and Victoria Beckham from her social media accounts. However, Brooklyn’s grandparents and extended family have not been affected and continue to interact with his posts as normal.

Sir David and Victoria Beckham are represented by Harbottle & Lewis, a high profile law firm that also represents King Charles, with partners reportedly charging around £800 per hour. Sources close to the family have described the situation as deeply distressing for everyone involved.

An insider told The Sun that many people are unaware of the full background to what they described as a heartbreaking situation, adding that the Beckhams were utterly bemused and devastated by the breakdown in their relationship with their eldest son. At present, prospects for reconciliation are said to appear increasingly remote.

Despite the ongoing estrangement, David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly tried to extend olive branches. Friends say Brooklyn was invited to attend his father’s knighthood ceremony in November, with Nicola also invited to join the family for a dinner to mark the occasion. It remains unclear whether Brooklyn responded to that invitation or to the original legal correspondence.

Those close to Brooklyn say the aspiring chef has grown increasingly frustrated that his parents continued to reference him publicly rather than approaching him directly and privately to try to repair their fractured relationship.
