ENERGY RADIO Energy Radio - Hit Music Only
Camden has a major musical anniversary to celebrate this week. Back to Black 20 arrives at the Roundhouse on Wednesday 21 October, bringing musicians and producers from Amy Winehouse’s world together with guest singers for a performance of the album in full. For London listeners, it is a chance to revisit a record through the people who helped shape its sound.

The venue lists Mark Ronson, Salaam Remi and The Amy Winehouse Band alongside guests including Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas and Yebba. Musical director Dale Davis is also involved. The performance will be filmed, with broadcasts planned for BBC Two in late October and BBC Radio 2 on 26 October.
Check the Roundhouse listing and your ticket before travelling: the page currently shows 6.30pm in its booking row but 7pm under doors, with an 11pm curfew. Those conflicting arrival times need checking with the venue. A waiting-list option is displayed, so do not assume tickets remain available simply because a price appears online.
The concert is only one part of the week. Amy Winehouse’s official store lists the anniversary edition for release on Friday 23 October. Its deluxe three-LP and three-CD editions bring the original studio record together with four previously unreleased demos, other rare recordings and a complete Paradiso concert from Amsterdam, recorded on 8 February 2007.
The packaging adds another perspective: alternative artwork, handwritten lyrics, photographs from Mischa Richter and Alex Lake, and new notes from Ronson and Remi. These are details of the deluxe editions, so check the track list of the particular format you choose rather than assuming every release contains the same extras. The official store is the source for those edition differences and the release date.
For anyone who already knows the album, the attraction is the opportunity to compare a finished studio recording with earlier ideas and a live performance. A demo can draw attention to phrasing or arrangement choices that disappear into the familiarity of a favourite track. Listening across versions is a different experience from simply putting a greatest-hits playlist on shuffle.
The official video is embedded below from Amy Winehouse’s own YouTube channel. Directed by Phil Griffin, it offers a direct route back to the title track before this week’s anniversary events. This is the original music video, not footage from Wednesday’s concert, which has not yet taken place.
Try listening once for the vocal and again for the spaces around it: the pauses, the instrumental answers and the way the arrangement supports the delivery. That is one of the pleasures of returning to a familiar song with a little more time, rather than hearing only a short excerpt in a social feed.
The Roundhouse is on Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8EH. Its travel guide places Chalk Farm Underground station approximately 150 metres away, with Camden Town Underground and Kentish Town West Overground each around an 800-metre walk. The venue advises against driving because local parking is restricted and it has no general parking facilities.
For listeners travelling in from outside London, plan both the outward and return journeys before leaving. Check live transport information on the day, allow time for the walk and entry checks, and use the ticket’s arrival instructions if they differ from a general event listing. Anyone needing accessible travel or parking arrangements should consult the venue’s access information directly.
There are several ways into this anniversary: the Camden concert, the forthcoming broadcasts, the deluxe recordings or simply the official video and the album you already own. Choose the one that suits you. The songs remain the centre of the occasion, and this week offers a good reason to give them a proper listen again.
